Cocido & Callos, pesadísimos!
February 29, 2008
Today what impressed me the most was not the tiramisu that made A Calustra, but the saying: En Galicia, lo que no se puede hacer es ponerte de dieta. Pero qué dices!
This year´s winter has already passed away, but we´ve not stopping tasting Galician winter plates. Last week was the famous Callos a la gallega, and this week Cocido gallego. Both of them are delicious, but i can bear no more either of them, cuz they´re so FUERTE!
callos, garbanzos, chorizos, cebolla, a whole pig, potatos…oh, dios!
Tocino de Cielo

It’s not a beautiful name, if you’d really like to translate it (fat of the sky). This tipical andalucian dessert made with egg yolk and sugar has an extrmely sweet flavour that may be beyond someone’s ideology as my best friend usually evaluates.
But for me it’s ok. However, it lies there for you to taste it, to give it a life that it deserves to recive…Así que pruébalo, porque tú lo vales!
Yep, that was the sushi i made!

French dessert + American coffee + Italian design = located in Spain!
February 23, 2008
Today we made a trip to Santiago de Compostela. Of course the Cathedral was breathtaking, for its long history and the work of art that it shows. However, after visiting it, we discovered something that surprised us just as much as the Cathedral did.
It was a cafeteria situated in one of the callejóns near the Cathedral, with the name Mora. At first, it seems just a normal pastelería with some special printed walls, but when you move forward, there appears another space of “Hey relax, take a seat and have some coffee”. Moreover, they sale hand-made chocolate with a super chulo design, wrapped in all kinds of packing papels and even in the shape of a CD.
I ordered a milhojas francesa and a avellana caf’e laitte. The coffee was quite of the American style, light and sweet, which reminded me of the X’mas Special that Starbucks promotes in Sh, that was the same flavor.
With that X’mas papel cup held in one hand, I took a walk in the downtown area during the deep winter…
The milhojas was also fantastic. I’ve never tried that of PAUL which Like told me that enjoys a high reputation, but i think it won’t be far from that anyway.
The cafeteria has its atmosphere designed in an Italian style: simple and modern.
That’ s the very place that i would like to work if it’s not for Velneo, jeje.
Canarias, everything´s tropical.

Recently, I’ve got to know more and more about Las Ganarias, as i live with some colleagues in this tiny Galician town.
They like making their food and share them with people, so i have the chance to learn another Spanish Cuisine which is somehow related with South America.
There is one called Arepa, a tipical Venezuelan plate that is prepared with corn flour filled with meat or vegetables. Actually, u can put in anything you want, jamon, atun, etc.
Another famous dessert Quesillo is similar to a pudding, but it’s just a little bit harder and tastes dpm!
They are also accustomed to put tropical fruits in their plates, especially when it comes to salads. It’s a great idea to put some pineapple in a salad!
Oh, and i onced tried 葡式蛋挞 that made by our mait (cuz we live next to the Portugueses, la gente tiene un poco de ambos lados). It was an entire one…and looks amazing! Y lo comen frío, qué raro!
